Jagga Jasoos box office collection Day 1: Ranbir-Katrina's film opens below expectations
Jagga Jasoos has been in the making for over three years, and finally released on Friday after many hiccups. There was a lot of buzz around the Anurag Basu-directed film, as it was Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif's first release after their widely publicised break-up. However, the film did not perform as per expectations, and earned Rs 8.57 crore on its opening day.
The opening day collections are significantly lower than Ranbir's last film, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, which made Rs 13.30 crore. However, the film fared better than Katrina's previous release, Baar Baar Dekho, which earned Rs 6.81 crore on its opening day.
Jagga Jasoos is about Jagga (Ranbir) on a quest to find his missing foster father Tutti-Futti (Saswata Chatterjee), after he is convinced that news of his death is false. Helping him in his mission is journalist Shruti Sengupta (Katrina).
Critics have unanimously praised Ranbir's performance, though the film itself has received mixed reviews. It remains to be seen Jagga Jasoos's collections increase, since the film appeals to children. Only the weekend will tell what the fate of the film will be.
